These certifications mean the bags break down under controlled composting conditions and are suitable for most municipal food waste collection programs.
Most councils that accept certified compostable liners (EN13432 / AS4736 / AS5810 / OK Compost) will accept our bags, provided they match their required standard and display the appropriate logo (for example, the “seedling” logo or Australian Standard mark).
However, each council has its own rules. Some allow only council-supplied liners, while others prefer food waste to be placed loose or wrapped in paper. We recommend checking your local council’s FOGO or food waste FAQ for confirmation.
- Compostable bags meet standards like EN13432 / AS4736 / AS5810 and break down into water, CO₂ and biomass without leaving harmful plastic residues.
- Biodegradable / degradable bags may contain conventional plastics and often break down into microplastics instead of fully composting.
Many councils explicitly ban biodegradable / degradable bags from FOGO bins and only allow certified compostable liners.
