Waste bags and shopping bags may use the applicable OK compost conformity mark only where the specific finished product is covered by the relevant certificate and the TÜV AUSTRIA Graphical Chart and mark-use requirements are satisfied.
Flexible packaging and other product types are not covered by these certificates and must not be represented as certified under them.
Certification applicability must be confirmed against the applicable current certificate and final finished-product specification before certification claims or conformity marks are used.

OK compost INDUSTRIAL
OK compost INDUSTRIAL is a TÜV AUSTRIA certification scheme for products certified for composting under controlled industrial composting conditions.

OK compost HOME
OK compost HOME is a separate TÜV AUSTRIA certification scheme for products certified for composting under home composting conditions, where temperatures are generally lower and less controlled than in industrial composting facilities.

ORIZON’s current OK compost INDUSTRIAL and OK compost HOME certificates cover specified:
- Bags for collection of biodegradable refuse
- Shopping bags (check-out bags)
Certification does not automatically extend to:
- all compostable bags manufactured by ORIZON;
- ORIZON’s entire compostable product portfolio;
- flexible packaging;
- other product types outside the certified waste-bag and shopping-bag Product Types;
- a customized product solely because it uses a similar material; or
- a finished product solely because its raw material has compostability certification.
Certification applicability depends on the applicable certificate conditions and the actual finished-product specification.
Product Specifications Matter
Certification applicability may depend on the conditions and specifications defined within the applicable certificate and certification documentation.
Relevant factors may include:
- product type;
- material formulation;
- film thickness;
- dimensions;
- colour;
- printing and ink;
- additives;
- product construction;
- other conditions stated within the applicable certification scope.
A customized OEM or private-label product should therefore be reviewed against the current certification scope before any OK compost certification claim or conformity mark is used.
Use of OK compost Certification Marks
The OK compost INDUSTRIAL and OK compost HOME conformity marks should only be used where the relevant finished product and proposed use fall within the applicable TÜV AUSTRIA certification requirements.
Certification marks should not be used to imply that:
- ORIZON’s complete product range is TÜV AUSTRIA certified;
- a product category or custom configuration is covered when it falls outside the applicable certificate scope or conditions;
- certification of a material automatically certifies the finished product; or
- OK compost INDUSTRIAL certification also means OK compost HOME certification.
Flexible packaging and other product types outside the certified waste-bag and shopping-bag scope must not display these conformity marks.
For OEM and private-label projects, certification applicability and proposed mark use should be confirmed before final artwork or printing approval.
